Gender, Race, and the News

This course introduces the critical study of gender and race in the news media. It examines social relations of power such as gender and race through the critical study of news media coverage, as well as through the accounts of practicing journalists. The production and representation of local and world events is considered through language-based and visual media texts in Canada and transnationally.
